P0116 / new thermostat & ECT sensor: how long till check engine light goes out? 850 1997

My wife's 850lpt turbo had a check engine light last week. I think I fixed the offending sensor, but was wondering how long before the check engine light resets itself?

In my saab, it took a 30 +/- mile drive and it was gone. I didn't quite get it that far, but the light was still on when I gave it to my wife. The radiator fan wasn't turning on when cold @ 14degrees, and the heat seemed better, though!

more info than needed... It was a P0116 IIRC, but it was essentially a temperature mismatch. I just replaced the Thermostat & ECT sensor. (Well twice, since I didn't get the housing cleaned off enough and it leaked once the thermostat opened. It's what I get for hurrying at the end with the 3 and 4 year olds waking up from naps and my wife not feeling great. The bonus was that I got to listen to most of the superbowl on the radio while I did it a second time last night.)

kudo's to volvospeed/bay13 site for their writeup. Especially the tip to get new T40torx screws. Even with the right t40 wrench, I chewed them both up some, and was glad to put new ones in. I was ESPECIALLY glad after I had to pull them again to fix the leak! The screw heads are really soft.

I decided to wait on the leaking oil cooler line till the next oil change, since the oil filter is right in the way of the lower end, and I had made enough mess for the day. Boy am I rusty at this stuff...
