1994 850 NON-TURBO 2.4 LITER

The fuel pump die and I replaced. Prior to it dying there was no delay in starting. Turn key over and engine fired up.

After replacement i now have to crank over for awhile before engine starts. Once started no problems.

If I turn key to the number 2 position the relay turns the pump on for 2 seconds to build pressure in the fuel line/rail. If I do this several times before cranking the engine will start right up.

So my conclusion is that the fuel pressure is bleeding off when the pump is off. Hence when the key is first turn the engine is cranking waiting for pump to build pressure.

I have take pump out to check the connection between the pump and the fuel hose leading to the main line. I have even double up the clamps to make sure not leaking from the hose, but pressure is still bleeding off.

So now I have to look at other sources, I believe it is internal to the system for there are no external leaks that I can see.

There is a fuel solenoid on the fuel rail that controls pressure and sends fuel back down the return line, how do I test it to make sure it is working?

Anything else that I can check?
