Hi all! Id like to start a thread for people to list a brief history on their cars with the mileage gone. Here is mine. I would especially like to hear from the very high mileage cars. With regular maintenance, my car feels like it will last forever, which is nice since I have a kid on the way and this car is perfect to beat on. Just wondering if other people felt the same way early on in their cars life and either went the distance or fell short with a problematic car.
1998 GLT 134,000M
MAF, both O2 sensors,plugs/wires/cap,powerstage, brakes of course, rear shock mounts/bilstein shocks, vacuum lines, thermostat and bolts, and all motor mounts. Regular mobil 1 oil changes @ 5,000 and tranny flushing every 10-15,000. I find that the tranny needs flushing at that interval or else it shifts hard.
Near future weekend job with parts sitting in my living room-
Timing blt kit including water pump, replace front axles(torn cv boots, dont want to deal with it),axle to transmission seals, front upper strut mounts with bilstein touring struts, new swaybar end links, another set of front brakes.
More involved preventative maintenance Ive done-
Fuel pump, fuel injector seals, that vaccum elbow under intake manifold
STUFF I HAVE LIVED WITH BUT HAVE NOT ADDRESSED
Coolant smell in cab when you initially turn the heater on(heater core leak)
The tsb recall about fixing idle drop and recovery that comes out of nowhere
The A/C is not cool enough when its hot out.
I believe that is everything going on with our car. Anybody out there care to chime in if you have the time?
