puzzled and frustrated with the difficuty in shifting a 2006 S60 2.5T into gear from the park position S60

Our 2006 S60 2.5T has been a great car so far, i.e., for the first 19k miles (and 33 months). However, the problem that has developed into a tricky one is the shifting into gear from the park position when the car/engine is cold (e.g., after parking the car overnight). It is almost impossible to shift it every morning and after parking it for several hours!

After our first trip to the dealer, they made adjustments in the related mechanical components, but without any success. After the dealer ordered (two) needed electronic/electrical parts (and a 7-day long wait), they worked on it again. No success again. There may have been an improvement in shifting it into gear when the car is still warm, i.e., now it shifts OK when the engine is warm, but NOT when the car/engine is cold.

It is still covered under warranty, but the major part of this problem has not apparently been resolved. A possibly related symptom is the occasional warning message "check stop bulb". I am planning another trip back to the dealer, but I am wondering whether anybody else has experienced similar problems/issues. Any kind of feedback and experiences by others would be greatly appreciated.

Once we get the car into a gear, it goes great! By the way, when the car/engine is cold, I almost always have to open the plastic cap surrounding the shifter and move a white plastic (apparently shift engaging) part to the left of the shifter up/down. This is a trick that seem to work all the time; one of the mechanics at our dealer told me that, when I asked him "what should I do in the worst case that I cannot shift it at all out of the park position". It is becoming a great hassle to do this kind of thing every morning (and after lengthy parking times)! Also, my other half, who regularly drives this car, cannot do this tricky maneuver at all. Please help!

Happy owners of a 1995 850 Turbo Sedan (with 165k miles; perhaps the best car I have ever driven on both sides of the Atlantic so far) and of this 2006 S60 2.5T.
