Back Story:
So this started back in december, i've been putting it off till it warms up...
Car was parked in the street and I went to start it. Car started and died instantly. Car then turns, but won't start. Checked voltage, OK. Tried jumping it anyway (hard to explain it wasn't the battery to non-technical people), still no start. There is fuel at the rails - don't know the pressure, but it is under pressure. Checked all lines I could find, everything connected on the air/vacuum lines.
Idle air valve was making noise, pulled it out, cleaned it out - less noise, but it is open.
connected spark plug wire directly to ignition coil, inserted random spark plug, with generous gap - NO SPARK. Shortened gap - .025-.035" - NO SPARK.
2 questions:
1)Hayne's manual says check the resistance of the ignition coil, but does not give any value - Does anyone know what this should be? And across where should I be measuring the resistance.
2) Local junkyard has ignition coil from 1998 70 series, is this compatible?
Thanks,
~Jon
