Hello,
I have a 1996 850 (5 speed) wagon. For years I have brought it to an independent Volvo shop. This shop claims its prices are 10% less than the local dealer. Recently, I had only the front brakes replaced. The rear brakes were not serviced. I would like to know if I paid to much? I know parts and labor can vary. All parts used were Volvo parts - straight from the dealer. Here is the invoice:
1) Front rotors $180.00
2) Front pads $52.25
3) Labor: Inspect brakes, install front pads & rotors $172.00
4) I had requested the brake fluid be flushed, but it wasn't. I think the
garage forgot. However, I was told you only have to change the fluid
every 3 years. I thought it was recommended you do it once a year.
Any comments?
Returning to my original question, the pre-tax total was $404.25. Was that a reasonable sum for the work performed? Thanks to all who reply.
