clutch slave cylinder S70 1998

Just purchased a '98 S70(2wd, non turbo) w/5 speed, it immediately starts leaking hydraulic fluid from the clutch slave cyl. Two mechanics have told me it looks like the bellhousing will have to be removed to replace the part, and by the way, while it's off, may as well replace the clutch. Thats a good idea if the bellhousing needs to come off, as the car has 118,000 mi. on the clock, but does anyone know if you need to do all that just to replace the slave cylinder? Any advice greatly appreciated!!

THANKS!!!
