Shudder when turning at slow speeds on awd..what the diagnosis? V70-XC70 1998

Doing spring service on my girlsfriends all wheel drive V70, automatic, small turbo. I noticed the steering seems to "shudder" at slow speeds when turning moderately hard at slow speeds in the parking lot. This is not "brake" related, as brakes aren't being touched. Also, doesn't comport with my two prior wheel hub failures. Is this a cv joint or is there something peculiar with awd cars?
