Cabin Filter and OEM Parts C70 2001

I just performed the 60K maintenance on my 2001 xc70, which included replacing the plugs, air filter and the cabin filter. When I removed the cabin filter it seemed like it was forced into a space smaller than the filter and replacing it was a little difficult. Does anyone know if this is normal?? Does anyone know how to turn off the “service needed” light?? What is the general consensus for using OEM parts for the 60K, 90K, etc tune ups??

Thanks,
