New to the Board -Are the 1997 850 GLT's turbo? -what does GLT stand for? 850 1997

Hello,
I'm new to the board and my uncle sent me to this site since I just purchased a used 1997 850 sedan for my wife.

I was wondering if the 1997 850 sedans were turbo equipt? Nothing in the manual indicates that the car has this option. A mechanic had told me that the reason why these cars will not pass smog is because the sedan is a turbo model and that everytime the car is started, the car's system checks resets itself.

What does GLT stand for?

Thanks for all the advice on the board. I was able to inspect the purchased car with all the suggestions on the board. What to look for and what to avoid. Thanks Brickboard!
