Trouble with Infant car seats

Anyone have experience with installing infant car seats in an 850 sedan? Unfortunately I don't have the instructions for the seat since it was given to me.

I am hung up on the non locking seat belts (the lap portion) which will leave the carseats loose. The belt goes over specially designed slot on the carseat, and that is basically what holds the thing down. Volvo is not helpful about the fact that the lap portion doesn't lock. There is a peice of metal that came with the car seat which essentially prevents the belt from sliding through the latch, and this seems to hold it down securely. Does anyone know if this is the way it is done?

Alread been through the tether points and I know that has nothing to do with the infant seat anyway.

Any help you could provide would be appreciated
