1996 850glt. About two years ago i slightly lifted the drivers side corner of the hood with a tiedown strap that got hooked on that corner of the hood. Last year, once, the alarm light on top of the dash started flashing when I cranked the car. A few miles down the road the alarm horn started sounding. I pulled over because I expected the ignition to cut off since that is the ultimate it should do in case of theft. Nothing happened. Now, a year later, the theft alarm is going off just intermittently some mornings as I drive off. It will continue this intermittent sounding for a few minutes and then quit for the day. I just checked and the light on top of the dash no longer flashes if I lock the car. I always use the keys, have never used the remote.
The hood opens and closes fine. I do notice there is an electrical sensor of some type of the front right hood catch bar. Is that sending a "disturbance signal" to the system and setting the alarm off. I could see if there was a slight warpage in the hood it could disturb the oringinal adjustment of that sensor. Is it possible to readjust that sensor? Or disconnect the alarm horn? Or just pull the alarm disturbance fuse? Any interconnect issues to other systems? The manual says nothing about what to do in case it sets it self off, just refers to the fact of what it monitors.
thanks
