left cv boot replacement 850 1995

I cannot remove the axle from the hub on the left driver side. I have the wheel turned outward(left turn). I have the press tool which I have already destroyed one and the second is starting to loose its threads also. I have tried hammering out the axle and spraying wd 40 in there. Anyone have any suggestions? Can I take out axle from transmission side to remove boots?
