How do you remove spots from suede! 850 1997

Help! Some passenger sat in my R wagon and left a small but deadly little black oil/soot spot in the suede. I covered it with duct tape so it wouldn't spread around, but I have been at a loss as to how one preserves/cleans suede. Lots of stuff out there for regular leather (Lexol, etc.), but when you suffer a booboo with your suede like I just did, what do you do? And is there anything to nourish suede over the years to keep it supple yet not darken it? Dick

It is not really suede, and stuff for leather may mess it up!

    Alcantara is synthetic.

    The site is - http://www.gulffabrics.com/Alcantara.htm

    It can be machine washed!

The site has advice on removing all sort of stains.

      James...

Thank you soooo much for the "heads up".

Just reviewed all the articles and magazines I've saved over the years, and have at least 4 good ones which all made reference in one way or another to the "suede" seats. Not a single remark to indicate that it's not really "suede", but a synthetic instead.

I read the article about Alcantara, and I'm kinda holding my breath right now.

The polyester/polypropylene mix is pretty much immune to most things EXCEPT organic solvents (which wouldn't be recommended for cleaning real suede anyway).

      rt... you out there?
