Well, I read on the codes on my '98 S70. They were: PO455-evaporative emission control system leak detected, O2 sensor circuit low voltage. The problem with the car is that the CEL has been staying on, along with some black smoke from the exhaust. The car has also been using more fuel than usual.

So, it looks like I'll need to order an 02 sensor. Do I have to buy the special socket to remove/install the sensor or can I just use a wrench on it?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

with 150K, probably both front and rear sensors. If you are on a tight budget, replace the front one first.
The P0455 is for the valve in the charcoal cannister. Both problems will turn on the CEL, so fixing just the O2 sensor will not turn off the CEL.

Do you know how much the little valve in the charcoal cannister costs? Would that hurt my gas mileage? I ordered both sensors from FCP.

Thanks,
Dave

Another question: How do I know which 02 Sensor to replace? This car has 150 K miles on it, so I'd imagine that both need to be changed.

Thanks again.

Dave
