I just purchased a 94 volvo 850 for my son's graduation. the car has 109,000 miles and has had all maint. records p/m were done at the proper scheduals the only problem with the car is the entire dash is loose and the glove box is broken the guy I bought the car from said that it was done by the company that installed the cd changer. the problem I am Having is, I cannot find any one that carries the dash and glove box components. can anyone out their help! Buy the way I only Paid $2000 for the car. I thought that was a bit to high as I have 3 240's and a 940 years are 86,87,88,94 940 and now the 94 850, I paid less for all the others.

Try www.erievovo.com and go to their Used Parts section, put in "1994", "850" and look under "Dash Cover". Then choose either with or without wood trim. They have some as of this morning.
A pity someone like IPD don't make a kit similar to their wagon tailgate kit, where you put a metal tab over the broken plastic.
Hope this helps,
The Bear

bet teh glove box is broke cos it broke its a common problem...bet the dash is loose cos the aircon has gone and someone tried to take it apart to fix it and gave up.....(agian a common problem) dash pretty much bolts in a nd out so witha little patioence you may be able to just put it back together right.....
certianly fittinga cd changer would be complete BS the ONLY dash pannels you might have to take out for that would be the lower passenger bolster panal - unless you were a complete moron.....(i know cos its a job i have done..)

Thanks for the response kick inside,
yes all the components you mentioned are broke, the problem is that the mounting points for the panels are broken as well that is why i need to find a complete new dash glove box and all the other bits and pieces that compleates the dash. And your wright a real moron pulled the dash apart and all the broken parts are on the passenger side. So if anyone knows where these parts can be found please let me know.

Scott,
Unless you get the parts from a "pick & pull" you'll end up spending more on OEM replacements than you paid for the car.
It is possible to re-mold the anchors, if at least one is intact, using a proprietary product. Plasti-Fix is one that comes to mind.
Otherwise you may have to be creative and find an alternative method for securing the dash to the firewall.
Best of luck,
Bryan

Thanks for the reply Bryan,
I've tried the bone yards unfortunatlly their isnt many 850's in them out of about 30 yards in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area I called only 4 of them had a 850 only one still had a dash left in in the car. when I went to pick through it, that Dash was in worse condition than mine. This is a real shame because other than the problem with the dash, this car is in perfict condition all leather int, body is perfict, drive train is great, and for a Texas car for the years has low miles.
Could you let me know where I can find the Plasti-Fix I've never seen this product! Thanks Again for your help

Scott,
Here is the website: http://www.urethanesupply.com/plastifixhowto.html
I've used this product to cast a few parts on the car and it has worked very well. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
Let me know if you need more information or assistance.

I have the same problem on my car and completly took the dash apart to see where / why it wasn't connected. Well the anchors were pretty much destroyed so i just tightened up everything as much as I could. I have thought of some other options, using wire to secure the dash or epoxy, or even some hot glue. I was in homedepot the other day and was thinkin that another option could be a metal bracket that i bend to the right angle. Its a lot of work for just some slight noise reduction, and in that case I just blast my stereo louder (if it works haha)

Did you do a CarFax report on this car before you bought it? You'd probably be better off in the long run trading it in on something else, it's gonna be nothing but headaches and hassles for you and your son. The 850 is Volvo's version of the Chrysler "K" cars from years ago. Go get a BMW or something else.
Just trying to save you from a huge headache.

Hey I take offense to that, my previous car before the volvo was a Plymouth Reliant K. It never broke down, I gave rides to my friends in HS all the time because their cars couldn't last. If anything is a compliment to say the 850 is like a K car they last :-P I still see a bunch of K's and 850's so they did soemthing right.

Hi Mike,
Yes; I did check carfax, their are no accedents reported and we are the third owners of the car. also the guy I bought the car from, purchased it from his wife two years befor they were maried, so essencualy the car has beed in the same family since new. I do agree with you about a BMW I was actually looking for one when I seen the volvo 850 and I could'nt pass up $2000 for a car that looked this good, and machanicly its perfict. I had my volvo shop check out the drive train and suspention and all is in great shape, and I have all records and all p/m's were done at proper milage, other than the Dash the car is in pristen condition.
Thanks for input
