Lambda warning light on (no codes) 850 1996

While on vacation (of course) the lambda light came on. It was very hot and humid 46 degrees C on the dash thermometer. The car is running fine, gas milage has not changed. I cleared the warning light by disconnecting the battery, but it came back. I bought an Autoexray code scout reader and it indicates that there is nothing wrong! No codes.

Does anyone have a diagram that would explain what triggers this light? The Haynes manual is usless, doesn't even mention the warning light.

Many Thanks,

Hi, once I had this lambda ligth too, due to a blockage in the
vatilation pipe between valve box cover and inlet vacum chamber.
They say mineral oil based foam is causing this blockage.

Have you checked in the A1 socket for the transmission. I do not know about whatever market it is that you are in but the U.S. models will light the check engine light when it stores a code in the transmission ECU. Being as it is a '96 you more than likely do not have the under hood blink box and your code reader may not read the transmission codes.
