rear wiper pump location intermittent rear wiper operation V70-XC70 1999

I was wondering if anybody could advise me on the location of the rear wiper washer pump. My rear wiper works on and off I took off the shield located near the rear hatch joint . If i shake the wire bundle the wiper will work it also works with the hatch open .. Any idea which color wire is for the wiper motor. Also any hep on the removal procedure of the rear washer pump would be greatly appreciated. Could the 2 malfunctions be related? Cheers

In my 98 V70, the rear washer pump is located on the reservoir, but it's difficult to see. The front washer pump is at the bottom of the reservoir and can be assessed from underneath the car.

My rear pump has frozen up twice. The second time I removed the reservoir from the car. The motor shaft is not stainless as the front pump shaft is. So I pulled the pump apart and cleaned it and then sprayed LPS #2 into the motor and allowed it to soak. When it finally freed up so I could spin it by hand, I hooked it up to the battery and let her rip. Then shook all the excess out and got rid of the rest using an air compressor.

Put the whole thing back together, filled up the reservoir and it still works fine 4 months later. The dealer wanted nearly $50 for the rear pump, so I was motivated.

Regards,

Mark
