How can I tell where my Volvo was manufactured? 2000

I read somewhere that my 2000 V70 XC was manufactured in Belgium, but I haven't seen any indication of that in the engine bay. Were some of them made in Gothenberg as well as Belgium?

How can I tell where my Volvo was manufactured? 2000

I believe the production of V70 classic was moved to the Gent factory while Torslanda ramped up production of the "new" V70 during model year 2000. Probably a good idea to check the s/n...

From the Brickboard archives:

"Check the serial number; the number AFTER the letter that signifies the model year (the EIGHTH character FROM THE END) will "tell" you where the car was made. If the number is 1 then the car was made in Torslanda, Sweden. If it is 2 then it was made in Ghent, Belgium. If it is 3 (I kinda doubt it) then it was assembled in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada."

The "3" for Halifax is correct up to MY2000 when the plant was closed. Even at that only about 2000 or so cars a year were assembled there. It was a dodge around the North American auto trade pact or some such thing. When I worked in downtown Halifax, I remember semi-finished 70 series coming in to the container port and being transported by truck from the port, thru downtown, out to the plant. For the most part the cars were complete, except for interior, some exterior trim and decent wheels (all came in with steelies). All of this stuff was in boxes that were stored inside the car.
