Fuel consumption (av/100km) was sitting constant at 10.9litres/100kms. Dash warning light came on for electrical / ignition fault, when fuel consumption reached 11.4 L/100kms. Volvo dealer can't find issue. Suggested bad batch fuel. Consumption still rising (currently 11.8 L/100kms). No difference in my driving. What could this possibily be a sign of? Any help?

thanks for advice. Temp is OK, at 3pm position. I guess its a process of elimination, re new plugs (current ones maybe a year and half old), injector cleaning etc. Bit disappointed with dealer for not going through options of why increase is occurring. I'm no mechanic, so I don't know either. I might try driving barefoot though! Thanks for responses. Good to know that help is not always confined to dealerships!

May be your O2 sensor's going bad. How old are your plugs? Maybe some injector cleaner in the tank would help. You didn't start wearing a heavier pair of shoes did you??

Is your engine getting up to temperature? I.E. is the guage at the 3 o'clock position? If it isn't, then I would suspect your thermostat is stuck open. The ECU will will enrich the mixture to get the engine up to temperature.
