Installed my iPod-factory stereo adaptor today, have great tunes!

Yay! On Saturday I finally received my USASpec iPod adapter from www.Discountcarstereo.com (it' been on backorder for 2 months) and installed it today... it works great! The cable plugs into the CD changer port and then you just have to splice in a battery and accessory wire.

I drilled a hole in the side of the glovebox to run the dock cable through, and the iPod sits in the glove box. The stereo now controls the playllists through CD select buttons, skips back/forward via the FF Rewind buttons, and can be set on random play. Also it charges to iPod and remembers the last song played when the car is turned off. The sound is CD quality and controls simple and easy to use. Great product!

Basically this item does everything the Monster iCruze does but at half the price :)

Seemed like a direct plugin to the radio...

Do you need to splice into power lines to power this thing?
What are the RCA jacks for? The unit actually looked like a mini amp.

Looks like a worthwhile investment, congrats!

It does plug directly in to the radio, but the Volvo cable required an additional splice. THe Volvo cable has a square pin plug on the end and the 2 wires branch off that require splicing.

The adaopter is not an amp at all, it just converts signals from stereo output and iPod back and forth, probably a little computer chip in there. It is made for Honda stereos but works with 98-2000 Volvo stereos with the additional VOlvo cable I mentioned - that requires the batt and acc wires.

There is another product for newer Volvos.

The RCA inputs are for optional additional inputs such as satellite radio or whatever you want.
