Good prices: Load Bars and Programmable Wiper Relay 850/S70 S70 1998

Hello everyone:
Just checking out some prices on some goods and here's what I found. at volvo.autowebaccessories.com they sell the OEM loadbars for '93-'00 850/S70 (for Sedan, but can be converted for wagons with conversion kit) that don't have the rails for $116.15. You'll need to look up part number 9134647

Also, I found that the programmable wiper relay (850's and S/V 70's...maybe others) is really a VW part made and sold by Bosch and Audi among others...you don't need to spend upwards of $70 for it. Cheapest I found it was at http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/ipb/egermanparts/quote.jsp?header=&footer=Please%20Come%20Back%20Soon,%20We%20Appreciate%20Your%20Business!&product=357955531&partner=ipb&baseurl=http://www.egermanparts.com/&clientid=egerman&cookieid=1IN03IIXY1IP0T4TN4 for $32.00. This site has many other decently priced items. Bought a magnetic oil pan nut from them for less than $3.00. Total of $75 or over means free shipping.

Not affiliated with either of these places at all, but just wanted to pass on info that may be helpful to others.

OK, I hate to be an idiot, but here goes... are these bars (9134647), all I would need for my 1995 Sedan 850 T5 to add a roof rack? I read your two posts, and it sounds from the first like they are (an additional kit would be needed for wagon version). In other words, would I need mounts or are they included? I had seen this page previously but I had the same question so I didn't purchase... Thanks in advance!

No, it's not the same part number. But I understand the load bars will also fit the 850's. It comes with all the parts. Whey don't you call them and see?

The part number you want at the site I mention is 9134647. By the way, the relay isn't a complete wash...(get it?). They can be programmed, but differently. In intermittent mode, it's the time between sprays that indicates the time interval between swipes. Still not satisfied with this setup and will probably send the relay back. I like the idea of just pulling the wiper arm up and down to set the interval...not having to spray the window each time I want to change it.

I am not sure I understand exactly what you have, but your post regarding a programmable relay and VWs reminds me of the setup in my 97 Passat. You put the wipers on, turn them off, and then back on again to set the interval on the intermittent wipers (by strictly the time between strokes of the switch handle). It gives the driver control of the interval. My 2003 VW has the "rain sensor" wipers, which sometimes work great but at other times work like cr**. I miss the Passat setup, but I can see how many folks would not like it...

Most likely the Passat relay would work in the '93-'98 850's and S70 the exact same way.

Update:
Don't buy the programmable intermittent wiper relay from this place. I just got mine today and it's a new fangled one that doesn't work right. Got on the net and searched it out and everyone's having trouble with it. There still is an OEM VW relay that does work exactly like IPD's. In fact, I'd say that IPD is buying the VW one and putting their name on it. I'll figure out where to get one at a decent price and post back. In the meantime, I've emailed the seller of the "bad" one and I'm going to be sending it back.

What are loadbars?

Those are the cross bars for the top of your car so that you can carry bikes, luggage, etc. On my car, since there is no rail going down the length of the car, like the Euro-rails on a wagon, the setup is somewhat difficult, but Volvo has a solution that works well. What I mentioned is that option for the S70 and 850's that Volvo has.
