brake controller installation S80

my mechanic said i need to replace my brake controller due to frequent trouble messages (brake, emmissions, transmission, abs, stc, etc) that seem to be related to that brake controller. now, my girlfriend said some of these electronic modules are easy to replace - even for women!

can anyone help me with instructions, links, photos, or whatever else may save me from the estimated repair cost of $850US? thanks, lori

victor rocha (see other posts) repaired my wife's abs module. below is my reply to him after repair and replacement of unit

    hello vic,

thanks so much for the service on my wife's S80 brake control unit. your instuctions for removal and replacement were perfect - the photos helped a great deal. Twenty minutes for removal and twenty minutes for replacement.

Car ran fine without unit and then returned to normal after replacement - again, just as promised!

Shipping was prompt as promised. Overall you saved me a bundle, thanks again!

Also check out item # 7966289228 on e-bay ... for re-building the module. The module is very easy to remove and install using Vitor's instructions. You have to remove the air filter box and the bolt holding the fuse assembly in place. With caution (I did it) the 4mm socket can be used in place of the 'star" socket. Remove the wires and unbolt 4 bolts and it comes right off. I did this and drove the car with everything (including speedometer) working, only the messages were on.
