How tro replace the front hydraulic engine mount? 850 1995

I did the front engine and tranny mounts last week. It was a DIY job. I spent 2.5 hours to complete the whole job.

    1) You have to remove the fan shroud before starting the job. You need room to take out the hydraulic mount and room to unscrew the nut on the top of the engine mount.

    2) You need to cut the top screw on the top of the new mount to match the length of the old mount. The screw on the top of the new mount was much longer and was difficult to install unless you undo all the engine mounts/tranny mount around the engine and rise the engine very high.

    3) Drive the car on ramps. I drove my car on Rino ramps.

    4) Remove the top nut (15mm) and bottom bolt (18mm) (via a hole on the subframe) of the old engine mount. They should be easy to remove because the manufacture torque spec. is only 50Nm.

    5) Remove the 2 bolts (14mm) on the tranny side of the front tranny mount. Not the sub-frame side.

    6) Riase the engine nearby the front engine mount area with a floor jack. I needed a piece of wood on the floor jack to give me the extra height to remove the old mount.

    7) You can now compare the top screws of the old mount and new mount. Cut the top screw to the same length as the old mount.

    8) Install the new mount in place (align the "bit" on the top of new mount with the slot on the engine mount bracket) and before lowering the floor jack, install the bottom bolt first via the subframe hole. You only need to hand tight the bolt.

    9) Lower the engine slowly and install the top nut. Tighten both top nut and bottom bolt to 50Nm. I had difficulty to torque the top nut to 50Nm due to the limited space in the area. So, I tightened the nut as close as possible. The bottom bolt was torqued to 50Nm.

    10) Install the 2 bolts of the tranny mount (tranny side) and torque them to 40Nm. Again, due to limit/tight space in the area, I just tightened them as close as possible.

    11) Install the fan shroud and you are done.

I cleaned up the area before putting the fan shroud back.

    Hope this help.
