2000 V-70--was the high pressure turbo available only in the R model? V70-XC70

Would like to buy a 2000 V-70 with the high pressure turbo, but for this year was it only to be found in the R models? I find the AWD with the low pressure turbo a bit underpowered, and the R model too expensive. What a shame they didn't make the high pressure turbo in a FWD for this year. Dick

    Get yourself a 1998 R or a 2001 T5, avoid 99 and 00. Look around for one with a service history and good maintenenance proceedures. Scan the whole country, a round trip air ticket used only oneway is cheap. If you find one out of town, call Lemonbusters or some other inspection garage and have them look at it for about $150.

    Why does it have to be a 2000?

    The '98 and '99 T5s produce 236HP and 243 lb.ft of torque.

    The '98 T5 has a throttle cable and 70k timing belt. The '99 T5 has the drive by wire electronic throttle and a 105k mi. timing belt. "You pays your money and you takes your choice." Or pick your poison.

    Both the '98 and '99 T5s had manual trannies available.
