Where is the remote door lock receiver in the car? I need to clear the codes or replace it. 850 1997

I can only reprogram one of my two remotes. If I reprogram one the second won't work, and vice versa. I'm assuming just one of the four remote positions in the receiver is working, and that the other three won't accept codes any more. Would anybody know whether this is a software problem that Volvo can fix, or whether I have to change out the receiver, if that is possible? Dick

    Your dealer can R&R any part on the car, but they never "fix" anything. Did you try to program both remotes at the same time? The book says you have 10 seconds or so to hit the remote button and that is time to do 4 of them. The transcievers keep moving from year to year, I think yours is above the steering column - way up there! I don't believe they are made to be software reloadable.
