S80 Alarm and Valet Switch Need Help S80 1998

I'm still having problems and unable to "permanently" disable my 1998 S80's anti-theft alarm system. I bough tthe car used and it was disabled, now after putting in a new battery it's back "on" and I hate it**. Can ANYONE HELP me to turn this thing off???? (not just everytime it sounds; I can do that with the remote.)

Phone calls to SIX dealers gave me all different POSSIBLE solutions. None have worked. One said to look for a VALET SWITCH under the dashboard and I did find that. IS THIS THE SOLUTION? If so... how does it get turned off and later on? I've had no luck Googling for a Volvo alarm.

My family, neighbors and workplace are all ready to have my head on a platter.

Any help????

(** The alram is set up to activate when the doors are unlocked. Therefore... if I don't lock the doors within two minutes and then start the car or open a door Beep Beep Beep. What a crazy system.)

S80 Alarm and Valet Switch Need Help S80 1998

The stock alarm system in your car is reset by cycling the key in the ignition. There is no toggle switch under the dash on an S80 from the factory. In the event a dealer installed an aftermarket system,I would take it to a facility that installs car alarms and ask them what is in the vehicle and how does it work. Also you may want to have it removed altogether if it is aftermarket as the stock set up is a real good one.

S80 Alarm and Valet Switch Need Help S80 1998

I checked under the dash and found a toggle switch (Valet switch). Eventually I found a LoJoack site that gave valet switch directions that disabled it (turn on ignition...not engine... push toggle valet switch for a few seconds until the dashboard light stays lit... do it again to re-arm car.) So I'm ALL SET.

Thanks for tip about no switch means it's factory installed. What confused me is that it works from my remote and it has the same basic temperment as the factory on (except this doesn't flash lights but does make crazy sounds that are more than just the horn blaring.)
