Hoses 850 1994

At around 140,000 mile I am entering unknown mileage territory. This my first Volvo purchased new in 1994 and so I am new to high mileage cars. Yes I am doing the timing belt but I was just wondering about hoses. How do you know when these things need to be replaced. They seem OK on the outside but don't they wear from the inside out? If so how do you know before you have a big problem? When is it consider good maintence to replace them? ..150,000....200,000 Which ones would be best to replace first?

I would do them now because they do rot from the inside out. I have owned a lot of high mileage cars and this is definitely on the list of things that
can get you stuck. Could they last another few years or more.. maybe.. but these things never fail in your driveway. It'll be on the way to catch a flight or in the middle of nowhere. Good thing to do before they fail.

At five year intervals is recommended but I always thought that that was two short since the hoses often look fine at that age. I would replace the fuel hoses too at that age, if they haven't been replaced before.
