How does the board feel about going to synthetic oil @ high mileage even if the car has had a good matenence record with oil? I've been using synthetic oil for 20+ years and love the results, but doen't want any problems with dropping varnish and other contaminates by using it with a higher mileage engine. Yes it's a turbo unit!

    I've been changing Saabs and Volvos to AMSOIL with anywhere from 35K to 100K on them for about 25 years now. Nary a problem (at least non lube related).

    I'd use a good engine flush first, such as made by AMSOIL or BG. If you want to wait longer, try Auto-Rx. If you don't, or won't, flush, then watch for any sign of increase in oil consumption. If you see that, change the oil filter and top off.
