140,000 mile Timing Belt Change 850 1994

I am coming up to the 140,000 mile mark for a new timing belt. What else should I get replaced at the same time i.e. drive belt?, water pump?. etc? What's the wise thing to do while this belt is being changed? What about tensioners etc? I plan to keep the car for another 60,000 miles. The car is a 1994 with manual transmission. Also do you ever change the transmission fluid on a manual? I am still on the orginal clutch with no sign of slippage yet.

Just changed T-belt at 150,000 miles -my indie mech did it, no other problems -water pump was OK, tensioner was OK too. He said original volvo parts usually last forever, so it does not pay to replace something that is not broken.
You have to replace drive belt because it's usually worn out at that mileage.
I did search on web-hydrolic TB tensioners usually last a long time, manual/ mechanical need to be replaced

You have obviously been reading this board. The water pump should last until the 160-180K mark, unless you notice seepage when you take the timing belt off. The tensioners could be replaced, but require tools that I don't have in my garage. Again, check for bearing wear. I always change the drive belt when the timing belt is changed, no extra labor involved?
When you clutch finally fails, it will probably be the throw out bearing, not the plates. Good job!

Average Life of items:

TB 60-70K..replace
TB Tensioner 80-90K...replace

TB Pulleys (2 of them) 120K...replace both

WP 120-130K or more, but for $45.00, I'd replace it

Drive Belt 50-60K...replace

Drive Belt Pulley 120K...replace

RE: MANUAL Trans. If possible I'd change the fluid although not indicated, but from past experience with 1991 Volvo 240, the fluid was ATF and was dirty at 120K.

Although Volvo can say whatever they want, in a MANUAL trans, it is nothing more than a whole bunch of gears meshing each other, so even when ATF is indicated like Volvo 240, using Engine Oil 10W30 is fine as well. In fact many Chevy manual trans cars used engine oil 10W30. Just to lubricate the gears. The reason Volvo 240 used ATF is for "fuel mileage improvement" because ATF is thinner than engine oil.

FOR AUTO Trans, yes, use the indicated ATF.

I also changed the hydraulic tensioner and idler pulley, but not the water pump.

Also with the original clutch, now at 149k, and it's a turbo!

I've been advised it's really not worth the trouble to change the MT gear oil, since the tranny is sealed. The oil is a synthetic and has to be ordered from a Volvo dealer.
