recall repairs??? 850

I believe my 850 falls under the recall #R139 There is definately fuel leakage when I fill up my tank.
It's a safety recall in hot weather states, and I'm in one of those states.

When I have this checked/repaired at the Volvo dealer do I need to pay for any of that?

And could they come up with some "excuse" that it isn't exactly what the recall calls for but some other defect?

Thanks for the help

You should be receiving a letter from Volvo if you are registered in one of the warmer states. However, if you have a leak now, you should contact you local dealer right away and let him know that you need to have this inspection performed soon because you currently have a leak. The reason Volvo is announcing this recall is due to the safety factor of having gasoline leak out of the tank - it's a fire hazard. I think there would be only a slim chance that they would find some other problem. The cost of this repair is covered 100% by Volvo.

Agree with post above. I provided Volvo customer service with my VIN and they verified it was affected (800-458-1552). They asked if I was experiencing a leak now (answer = no) and told me the letters would begin going out in November. Either way, they'll be repairing it at no charge to me. Also discovered there is a headlight switch recall on my car(1997 850), so I'll get both done soon after the letter arrive
