850 Off Road? 850 1994

Hi there, ive recently got a job that requires, on occasion, to go slightly off road (Farm tracks, fields etc, nothing too bad) but on the occasions I have, Ive scraped the bottom, a couple of times quite noisily, there is nothing damaged as I can see, but, I would rather not wait until I damage something expensive. I cant afford a Landrover or a Cross Country. My questions are the following

1, Are there any shocks/springs that would give both the front and rear a lift and keep it there(say 2-3 inches), even if there are heavy loads in the boot?

2, Is there any other equipment I would need?

Thanks in advance

The skid plate would be a wise investment but as the previous post stated, it's a Volvo, more specifically, a Luxury Touring Sedan, not a 4X4!

I have the Volvo skidplate, however....

When Road and Track tried taking the XC70 off road a few years ago they punched a hole in the intercooler.

    It's a Volvo, not a Jeep.

IPD sells a skid plate for the front.
I had a set of 205/65 tires on a 850 once and it sat a little higher.

You can install nivomat suspension at the rear. That will give you about 2" of lift at the back even when fully loaded. As for the front you could try the Bilstein HD, it won't give you any lift but it is intended for heavy use as the name stated. You might want to consider skid plate as well.
