alarm goes off every day S80

My wife drives a 2000 model S80 to work, where she parks it in the parking garage.

Every day the alarm is triggered. I have only had it trigger once when I parked it outside at the grocery store, but I only drive the car occasionally.

Any ideas? I've seen several alarm-related posts, but none of these seemed to fit our case.

Many parking garages shake when cars drive around. Especially multi-story ones. For instance, it is not uncommon to hear alarms on cars in the parking decks at the Atlanta Airport.

    hi,
you need to know what is causing the alarm to trigger, your volvo dealer can read off what sensor caused this with vadis, but....9 times out of ten the mass movement sensors (MMS)cause these type of faults especially in a garage and even worse if the garage has a sliding roof that slides up over the top of the car.this can trigger the sensor. also the mms on early cars like yours were too sensitive and this caused a lot of problems so volvo kept having to redesign them and they never really got it right on the c70 for example there were 6 or 7 different generations of mms and they still have problems. the point being though that there may be a newer and improved type of sensor for your car available.
check also that the doors are all shut properly when you lock the car.

    steve.

      cbe_steve,

Thanks for the info. It sounds like another visit to my friendly neighborhood volvo dealer.
