How important is a Antifreeze flush 850

Hello,
My car is in the shop getting recall #86 done, and I am debating whether or not to pay $85 for the antifreeze flush. I don't know when the previous owner last did it...but I am wondering if it is worth doing? When I changed the thermostat out, the fluid was a little greenish brown.

What could happen if I don't do it now, but do it in the spring?

Thanks,
HarryP

important to prevent internal engine corrosion....my brother had to scrap a 740 cos it hadnt been done for a few years (by the po)..the engine was beyond econommic repair...

    Two comments on the flush:

If you DIY, be VERY careful opening the petcock on the radiator--it is plastic and breaks easily and/or frequently will not reseal easily.

If you don't flush and the water pump ends up seizing, it will take out your timing belt and that will take out your valves at a minimum...

very important, especially if you don't know the history 850

Save the $85 and do it yourself, but do it now before the winter.

Get a gallon of prestone and a gallon of distilled the water and refresh the coolant now. EASY DIY procedure.
