Battery flat from parking lights woe C70 1999

I had the distinct displeasure of returning to my car after several hours away and finding my battery flat. The central locking not respond to my button press. I had left my parking lights on :(

My question: Is there a std feature which can be enabled so when the car is locked the parking lights are turned off. I notice if the headlights are on, they are turned off, but if it is only the parking lights...they stay on.

Is this something controlled by software, or hardware?

Thanks and Regards
(Nearly missed the ding ding ding sound when you turn the key...nearly!)

hi,
if you didnt want the parking lights on then why did you turn them on? if you normally drive with the light switch in the park position then what for? why not leave the switch in off or on dip, then you will have dip lights on when you drive and no lights left on when you lock the car.

steve.

p.s. there is no standard feature you talk off im affaid,if the switch is in park then thats for when you leave the car parked in an area where you want it to be both locked up and visible at night time.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that....yes, I know it says parking lights, but sometimes I leave them on whilst driving to help visibility when headlights arent required. Id actually driven from dark til sunrise, and turned down my headlights when i was behind a car and the sun was up, but there was some mist in the air....i just forgot when i got to where i was going!

Thanks
Marko

in the past I've seen the simplest of devices which set off a small buzzer if the car was off before the parking (or headlight) circuit was shut.
