New 850 Owner Have Some Questions Thanks! 850

Hi Everyone,

I am a 240 owner gone 850. Its a 95 Turbo. I had some quick questions on the car. When the ignition is on but the car is not running, there is a buzzing coming from around the vaccum tower/throttle body. Is this a normal thing? Second, I am getting misfiring codes from the diagnostics. Cylinders 1 and 3. Will a tune-up do the job here? And last, will this thing last as long as the 240's? Thanks a million everyone!

Brett

It will last as long as you can afford to make it last. Consider yourself lucky if you bought a 1994 or 1995, the DTC is easy to read and reset. Newer models need a very expensive tool. Your 850 has twice the HP over your 240, so don't expect the same gas milage.

Buzzing with the IGN set to ON w/o engine running is the electric fuel pump - Normal. Misfirings probably due to bad plugs/leads/distributor cap.
My 850 feels solid so far so expect it to last long.

    brett,

I had the same sound on the TB area and the steps I did was to clean the TB, had to replace the gasket, check the condition of your idle motor and TB sensor.

As for your misfires, have your compression check.

850's I believe would last the same as the 240's as long as you past the complication stages and exhausted your interest on this car. I suggest to do more research on this site and see the common problems owners get but each has its own kinds. If you are a DIY, you can past a lot of visits for services.
