Is it alright to only remove the hose to the throttle body and clean it with fuel injector cleaner, with out removing the throttle body iself? Also is this done with the engine running or not????

    yes you can do it without removing it.

    with engine off, wet a rag with carb cleaner and clean the plate and the body. It's easier if you have small hands.

    DO NOT spray cleaner into the TB as you could damage the electronics of the throttle switch

    You can do a better cleaning job if you take it off. Only 4 small bolts and unsnap the accelerator cable. Not that difficult to do. Leave the engine off. Use a rag and some solvent. There are some cleaners that specifically say they are for throttle body cleaning but alchohol, mineral spirits, or similar cleaner should work fine.
