Air Pump Warranty-I NEED YOUR HELP! S70 1998

Hello Volvo friends! I have a 1998 S70-T5-SE with 75,000 miles on it. The air pump has an occasional growl to it indicating it will need replacing soon. I'm finding the more people I mention it too the more I hear "yea I had to replace mine"....at a $600. cost. Does anyone know about any "secret or hidden" warranties that Volvo might have for these expensive babies that seem to be going left and right. Is there any harm it driving it until it lets go or hopefully doesn't seize up.Is there a Volvo "squeeky wheel" contact that might be able to get a claim through when Volvos first customer help source says "sorry that's not covered". It just seems that if so many are going it should be taken care of from a reputable manufacturer.

Thanks for your help....Eddie

There is no "secret warranty". Unless you have an additional extended warranty like VIP, you only had a 4 yr/50K mile warranty and by now, all '98 cars are well over 4 yrs old.
Once any Volvo part is replaced, that Volvo part has a 1 yr, unlimited mileage parts warranty. That's it.
Air pumps are just one of many parts that can fail on any car. All cars have their known problems and nothing lasts forever.

Air Pump Warranty-I NEED YOUR HELP! S70 1998

My 98 airpump made noise last summer, seized this spring. Baby Been running fine since then. Will probably have to fix/replace before Feb when Emissions due (along with all the other bells and whistles on the dash board (Service light, lamda light ABS light etc. All it does is blow some air to enhance something or another like blowing on a fire to get it going efficiently.
Car runs like a bute and I still get over 800kms with ac blowing cold on a tank (HWY)

The car will run fine without it working. Mine went out last year. I'm at 150,000 and running fine without it.
On the check engine light for emissions check - in New Jersey they now plug into the computer instead of checking at the tail pipe so , go to AutoZone ask for the free code check (they tell you its a 401) -- then ask them to reset the code. Drive directly to the inspection station as the light will remain out until your next "cold" engine start. (this worked for me this year)

So he'd be SOL on that, too!

Nope, if you want cheap maintenance, buy a Camry!
