sorry i'm not familiar with any shops in the ny city area, but there is a good indie mechanic in w.mass, and he has someone who does come from the city... it might be entirely too far, but i was charged 60$ for 2.5 hours total inspection of my car when i first bought it, and very reasonable rates for oil change, transmission and brake fluid flushes... if you're interested, please e-mail me...
