power window mysteries S70

Problem:
Rear right power window will not go down or go up when the rear switch is operated. the main control unit on the drivers side WILL put the window down and raise it normally. when the child-protection system is disengaged and re-engaged the lighted icon of the windows in the back seat illuminates on both sides, but only the left switch is operational.

coudl it be a loose connector in the control switch? it is receiving power and is communicating with the main switch, however the switch is unoperational.

Switch in rear door has departed. The switch itself cannot be disassembled and repaired. Either buy a new switch or stick a post-it note on the window (sw inop, ask driver to lower/raise the window. Tips accepted.)

have you any links or directions as to how to remove the switch to inspect it and its connectors?

On my 850 the switches simply pop out. I use a safety pin with the sharp end bent at 90 degrees, just the very tip. Then gently prod and pull from side to side. Do not force it. It has a retaining spring on each side.
Unless you spilled coke in it, the internals of the switch can not be saved. My very old Audi had coke, and I put the switch in hot water for 10 minutes and then hair dried it until it was hot to the touch and let it sun dry for a day. Miracle, it worked again. Usually they just get corroded and get replaced.

no coke. the door was slammed shut REALLY hard, that is what has caused all of this. i am surprised the glass did not shatter or come dislodged. my friend is stupid when it comes to cars, and he got in and just slammed it shut like it was a meat locker.

          any thoughts now anyone?

Why didn't you put that subtle hint in the first post? Either a wire came loose at the switch or the door is waiting for your friend to come back and do it again. It's too bad he got his foot inside before closing the door.
Just pop the switch out and check the connectors.

maybe the slamming of the door got the electrical connector loose. Pop the switch out and unplug and replug connector and see if it works.
