I did my third flush on my 96 850T at 80K miles with Mobil1. Previous had been dino. Amazingly, with no other changes on the car (3,000 miles later), my mileage crept up .5-1 mpg. Would appear to be a nice demonstration of friction reduction, I surmise. I'm sticking with Mobil1 for future flushes.

My RWD 960 wagons have both received synthetic AFT. One got Mobil 1, the other AMSOIL. Flush the tranny real well with a 2 or 3 quarts to get all that dino crap out of there.

I had my ATF flushed by the dealer every 30K miles until I decided to do it myself at 120K. I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, and for 7k miles since then have been very pleased with how smoothly it shifts. It is still nice and red, no leaks, no problems. So, yes, I would go ahead and make the change to synthetic.

Yea, the syns are, IMHO, worth the extra $$. The most compeling reason is that guys who have transmission temperature gauges and run Mobil 1/Amsol see a 20-30 degree drop in fluid temps. That is very significant as to friction reduction as is the noted > mpg. As the 850's have no internal tranny filter, consider adding an in line Magnafine filter after the flush.
