After replacement of struts and springs by Eibach and Koni yellow on my V70R I hear a clicking sound when riding over a speed hump. The sound is only noticeble with the windows open, and at the beginning (driving up) and the end (driving off) of the hump. It is not a rattle, but one single click.
I checked all the mounting points, and everything was fine.

Is there something that likely went wrong during the strut assembly? Everything is mounted as it was. There is a cross-nut inside the strut. There is no possibility to tighten it very well. Could that one be the problem, or could it be the central nut on top of the strut. This one is not very easy to tighten as well.
Finally could it be a faulty strut, or lets say is it a common failure?

Before I spend half a day by dismounting the struts I want to check other possibilities.

Try to tighten the cross nut a bit more using a hammer. Mine that was the problem.

When you replaced your struts did you check the control arm bushing? If this is worn you will get the clicking sound your describe.

I have had to replace both front rubber strut mounts on my V70R. The metal inner sleeve breaks out of the rubber bushing and causes a thumping or clicking noise. If you have never replaced those, dismount the struct again and take a look at the center of the upper spring seat.

If you need to replace those, the rubber portion of the upper mount pushes out of the upper spring seat.

I repaced them both (left and right), so that could not be it.

When you say you replaced them both - do you mean the struts themselves? I believe what RavenTwo was talking about is something that is called the "Spring Seat" a metal/ rubber sleeve that goes out quite often (so much so that on new 70s and 80s Volvo will replace for free because it is such a noisy/ common problem). If you replaced these parts as well - than you are right it must be something else - just wanted to note the distinction.

Offcourse I replaced both struts. What I ment was that I replaced both spring seats too.
