Air Conditioning S70 1998

Thanks to John from Tampa, I was able to locate the service port on my AC system. However, I couldn't get a steady reading on the pressure gauge. The system seemed to be continually cycling on and off, which would cause the gauge to fluctuate between 25 PSI and 45 PSI (filled). I probably only put in an ounce or two at most. Yet, no real change in cooling temperature.

Any help?

thanks
John

You do not have enough gas in the system to keep the compressor engaged. It will cycle off when it gets to about 30 psi or so. If you do not have a sufficient amount of refrigerant it will compress it down to less that 30 quickly and cycle off. If you have enough gas in it the compressor will pull it down to about 30-33 and hold it. Put some more gas in it and then see what it does.
