20w - 50 oil stopping leaks ? 850

I've read some posts of people using 20w-50 in their bricks. Being that this is a thicker oil, would this be an option to help slow or even stop a rear main seal leak ? Also, I've had a "blue smoke" issue that someone on a previous post suggested may be a valve guide problem. Is this a major issue or something that I could take care of myself ?

Any input appreciated.

I wouldn't. I'd still do the 10W30 or in the winter do the 5W30. Live with the leaks or get them fixed...
