In need of a manual...any suggestions? S70

Hello all!

Need to get a manual for my '98 S70T5. I've seen the Haynes on IPD for 30, but was wondering if there is any other manuals out there that are reasonable in price.

Thanks in advance!

There are no comprehensive printed manuals because the
set would be huge (one for electronics, one for transmission,
etc.). Volvo used to sell a set but cost was over $1000 for
everything (these may still be available for a 98 at the Volvo
techpubs web site, see below). In fact, my 98 came with the
list of all the manuals in a small book along with the very
high price. Ouch. So, a general purpose manual for
70 series owners is not available as far as I know. The Haynes
is probably pretty good for a 98 since the engine/driveline
did not change much over the 97 850s.

Having said that, here are the resources I use:

Volvo technical publications web site:

https://www.volvotechinfo.com/

All Data. They give you the most important stuff right from
Volvo's docs for $25/year. Anything not here requires very
specific tools or knowledge so I have found this a good
resource. More importantly, it lists the Technical Service
Bulletins and recalls so you know what the problem areas are
The TSBs and recalls are worth the $25 and the info helps you
work with your mechanic in a more knowledgable manner:

http://www.alldatadiy.com

And the best:

http://volvospeed.com/bay13.htm

With alldata and volvospeed you will have almost everything
covered that you might need for regular service and maintenance.

In the end I think you are going to end up printing files
off the computer to get the hardcopy. I keep a binder and
I am slowly building my own manual. To some extent the
maintenace info is dynamic with new TSBs frequently issued
so an online resource has the most "fresh" info (TSBs are often
issued to cover service or problem diagnostic procedures).

Ray, thanks! I have used bay13 before, great place, but the first I've heard of alldata. Thanks for the reply & info!

I believe there are no written manuals for '98 and newer volvos, except for the volvo service manuals that are a bit pricey.

If you are familiar with the volvo vadis dvd manual, I have an extra original (not a bootlegged copy)vadis dvd that covers your car.

If you are interested email me privately.

The Haynes UK S70, C70, and V70 repair manual is the only alternative to the Volvo manuals.

Thanks for the offer John, but i like hardcopies so i can reference them when i'm working on my car. I think the manuals for the later volvos are imported, but they are availble.
