I am told certain relays from Vw has this function & will fit the 850 . Anyone know for sure ? what year & model VW ? what is part # ?

443 955 531 ? SIEMENS
431 955 531 ? EAP

I have the IPD part, which works great. I have heard that it originates as a VW part. Earlier BMWs used the same system.

There was a discussion on this topic at http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/dc/dcboard.php and a mention of an Audi part number that would replace the Volvo wiper relay and provide this capability.

In August 2000, I bought a relay from Automotive Performance Systems, 1800 423-3623 for $24.95, part # 955.531 "Intermittent Wiper Relay". It fits my '98V70AWD prefectly and is functioning well today. I don't know what your preceding numbers signify for the Siemans and EAP.
