Does anyone have any tricks for getting the road salt out of there interior carpets? I have a thick rim of salt that lies in the permanant carpet around the top edge of the winter floor mats and cannot remove it. Once the water evaporated it left the salt encrusted pretty damn good.

any products, or home made ideas?

    I go to the manual car wash and spary the heck out of the mats, they usally
    have a place to hang mats, Then I take my ice scraper and scape out
    all the dirt and water ,I keep doing this until the water is clear they will look brand new

    hth

    I have found a good cleaner to be Krud Kutter. I think home depot carries it, and other places. It cleans just about everything. I used it to remove stains on my headliner and sunroof (taupe color) and it looks like new. It comes in big jugs and spray bottles. I'm very happy with it.

    I just cleaned the exact problem yesterday. I used clean water and a scrubbing brush and the salt came out no problem. If yours is more stubborn, use vinegar.
