I bought the gear from the website...it is tiny...the size of the diameter of a pencil eraser. Follow the directions of bay 13 to remove the instrument cluster..make sure you wrap it in a small towel before you pull it out so you don't scratch the plastic. As I remember, the only difficult part was taking the instrument cluster apart after it was out of the car. If you take your time, you should be OK. I had the cluster apart on the dinning room table, and all my wife kept saying was that she could not believe what I was doing!

Yep, bet you 5 bucks your sprocket broke. You'll have to buy a new one ~20, open the dash and replace it. I forget the link to the instructions, but it is around. A guy selling them on Ebay pops up every once in a while too. dealer will want to charge you like $600 for a new unit. $20ish and 2 hours is all you need.

What is the complexity of opening the dashboard, locating the speedo/odometer, removing the speedo/odometer, and any other connections there, replacing the sprocket, reinstalling the dash? Is this for beginner, intermediate, or advanced diy home mechanic. I would say this is intermediate to advance. Does the odometer ever fail for other reason than sprocket?

Other option is to purchase new odo. from dealer (~$300), and have dealer remove and install (~$150). new one with mileage you specify when purchasing
