First message and a new to U car. I just purchased a 2001 XC with 64,000 on it.

The auto lock seemed to work when I got the car a month ago. Now it seems to work once in a while. The locks work when using the key in the lock or the buttons on the doors. ( I did put new batteries in the key fobs.) Any suggestions?

They had a problem with the buttons on the keyfobs. It can cause other problems like the alarm going off when you lock the door.

There is a repair kit with new keycaps that are easy to install yourself if you want (just *don't* break the keycaps off of the little plastic "tree" holding them together).

Thanks, Bob, Where can one get the repair kit? (Elementary? A local Volvo dealer?) Can they be gotten anywhere else? Hopefully by mail order of via the internet as I live 300+ miles from the nearest dealer.

I got mine from my Vovlo salesman for free (he told me about the problem and said I could easily fix the fobs myself if I wanted to).
