V70 Oil trouble-Light repeatedly ON after Oil change V70-XC70 1998

My V70 has been towed-in 3 times for the same problem. The last 2 oil changes I had, the following day or two, my oil light would be on and the engine tapping to beat the band. The Dealer says "its not making noise now" or "the lights not on now" They are double talking me, I am certain. Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone else had a bad experience with Jim Wynn Volvo in Norristown, Pennsylvania?

One should check oil pressure first but your problem will most likely be solved by removing the oil pan and replacing the 2 o-rings between the pan and block plus the one for the oil sump as well. It's about a 3 hour job as the subframe needs to be lowered to remove the pan.
Do you know what weight oil they're using? Should be either 5w30 or 10w30, nothing heavier.
Another possibility? Is oil leaking from the front of the engine? Another possible source of an oiling problem is a bad oil pump o-ring but if so, it's usually leaking externally as well and we see that with high mileage cars (typically over 150K miles). If so, that's a more time consuming job as the t-belt and lower crank gear need to be removed to R&R the pump assembly.

Wow, Frank! You are right-on. After my fourth break-down for the same problem, I was fortunate to break down near a different, more reliable Volvo Dealer! (God sure works in mysterious ways!) It WAS the oil pan being totally sludged-a problem that should have been seen months ago. I am quite concerned about the longevity of my engine now, having been so neglected by Jim Wynn Volvo in Norristown, PA. I don't know why they had my oil pan off and missed this very crucial diagnosis, when Keystone Motors found it within hours. It was quite costly. Unfortunately, Volvo chose not to stand behind me on this, but I will be taking JWV to court over the matter. Thanks for your input. You were dead-right and everything you mentioned was finally performed. I love my car!! :)
